The cannabis industry is quickly evolving, with research and development happening at a lightning-fast pace. At the same time, companies in this space must run at peak efficiency in order to grow, working double-time to keep up in the face of regulatory hurdles and high tax bills.
With so much at stake, it’s imperative that operators understand every aspect of their business. Cannabis professionals run the gamut when it comes to supply chain knowledge. Many are entering the legal industry from the clandestine legacy market while others are brand new to cannabis altogether.
The team at Xtractor Depot understands this notion and have always focused on understanding the customers needs. Offering a wide range of extraction equipment, supplies, and services including custom glass blowing and repair, the company has grown alongside the cannabis industry itself.
With operations in California and Oklahoma, Xtractor Depot has cemented its place as an essential resource and trusted partner for clients thanks to the team’s wide breadth of knowledge and dedication to the craft.
Founder Andrew Yoon, a former extractor himself, saw a severe gap in the emerging cannabis space both in terms of product availability and professional know-how. Processors were forced to look to online resources, and word-of-mouth to run their operations, piecemealing together systems in a risky game of trial-and-error.
Andrew, wanting to put his self-taught abilities to good use, established Xtractor Depot as a way to help others in his shoes and simultaneously advance the industry as a whole.
“I want to be able to take our knowledge and be able to make it more standardized so that we can make this industry more legitimate, and have it be recognized by other industries,” Andrew, also the company’s CEO, declared.
“I take it seriously because I was an extractor once and I had to learn all this stuff pretty much on my own, through forums and YouTube.”
Chris Shishido, research & development manager at XD, echoes that sentiment. Another former extraction artist, Shishido spent over a decade honing his craft. His motivation comes from wanting to see the next generation of extractors work smarter, not harder.
“Doing the same process over and over for 10 years, you really start to start to dig into more of the technical aspects, because you've tried to keep figuring out how to potentially make your job easier and easier and easier — but that in a way helped the industry evolve.”
“Our expertise is fueled by our passion…”
With so much new technology regularly entering the picture, the Xtractor Depot team makes it their prerogative to have a firm grasp of every process using in the industry to build familiarity with any equipment in the industry. Customers are able to source exactly what they need and obtain training, with service and support available long for the long-term.
However, it isn’t just customer satisfaction the team had in mind when deploying the all-around product knowledge policy — they’re also driven by a sincere interest in their art.
“I think our expertise is fueled by our passion,” Andrew proclaimed. “From that passion, we're constantly wanting to learn new things.”
The team at Xtractor Depot loves to encourage customers and curious parties alike to pop in and talk shop whether you plan to purchase equipment or not. They even host educational training, including with local fire departments, to further help the industry and community as a whole.
The relationship building that happens at Xtractor Depot supersedes the transactions that occur, something customer service manager Steph Louis attributes to the impressive abilities of her teammates.
“Because of the knowledge and experience that we have, customers know that we're guiding them in the right direction — we're not just trying to sell them things.”
A Legacy of Expertise
Xtractor Depot isn’t just unique in its extraordinary range of product knowledge and availability.
Jeanie Yoon, XD’s head of human resources, believes the blend of old-school roots and cutting-edge technical prowess truly sets the company apart.
“Most of our client base that we work with came from the traditional market,” she said. “We combine expertise and authenticity to make sure there are no walls between Xtractor Depot and the clients that we serve.”
Andrew sees his bigger picture motivation as a key differentiator. While company growth and the overall prosperity of his customers are priorities, his vision of success comes back to his desire to be a role model in the community and a lasting resource for his fellow extraction artists.
“I want to be able to not just say we created Xtractor Depot, but we left a legacy of expertise that other people can build upon so they can say, ‘I learned this stuff from Xtractor Depot and we got to where we are because of the knowledge they shared.’”
