Product Overview

Media Bros. CRX-M™ is a finer-grain color remediation and filtration media engineered specifically for medium-flow, higher-pressure hydrocarbon extraction systems. A refined version of CRX™, CRX-M increases available surface area and uses smaller granules to help reduce channeling while providing consistent color refinement and filtration performance.

CRX-M is particularly suited to processors who prefer a finer, more traditional filtration-media consistency while operating at higher pressures than standard CRX applications.

Product Description

A finer Media for medium flow and high-pressure systems. The smaller granules help mitigate channeling and improve color refinement in systems running under higher pressures. Designed for operators who prefer the traditional powder form or want to maintain a higher PSI.

Key Features

  • Finer Granule Structure — Increased surface area provides extended media contact and helps reduce channeling in higher-pressure systems.
  • Medium-Flow / High-Pressure Performance — Engineered for processors who need CRX-style remediation while operating at higher pressures or with system-size limitations.
  • Balanced Color Remediation — Provides light-to-moderate color and fats/lipids filtration while prioritizing selectivity and consistent processing performance.

Common Applications

Hydrocarbon extraction

In-Line Color Remediation

Designed for use in compatible in-line filtration/CRC systems to provide color polishing during hydrocarbon extraction.

Higher-pressure processing

Medium-Flow Filtration

The finer particle profile is specifically intended for systems operating at higher pressures where processors want increased media surface area and controlled flow characteristics.

High-quality starting material

Light Refinement

CRX-M is best suited to material requiring a lighter polish rather than aggressive remediation. Media Bros' usage guidance associates CRX/CRX-M with fresher, higher-quality starting material and applications where retention of desirable extract characteristics is important.

Handling & Storage

Keep CRX-M™ sealed and protected from moisture when not in use. Media Bros notes that moisture is a primary concern when storing its filtration media. Load the media directly into a properly configured filtration housing above the filter screen while minimizing airborne dust. The current Media Bros CRX-M SOP states that pre-wetting is not required and the media is designed to be used dry. This supersedes older Media Bros literature that recommended baking CRX-M before use. For best results, Media Bros currently recommends a 4–6 inch diameter CRC column, a ≤5-micron screen followed by a 0.2-micron final filter, and operating temperatures below -10°C.

Safety Notes

Follow the current Media Bros CRX-M Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and facility-specific SOP before handling or processing. Use appropriate PPE and dust-control practices when transferring or loading dry filtration media. Avoid unnecessary dust generation and contact with eyes or respiratory exposure. Follow manufacturer instructions and applicable regulations when disposing of spent media. Because CRX-M is intended for use with hydrocarbon-based solvents, all extraction operations should be performed using appropriately rated equipment and the facility's established solvent-handling and process-safety procedures.
